COERR Aranyaprathet supported capacity building in livelihood for the handicapped
in Sakaew, Rachaburi, Sakon Nakhon and Buriram provinces

   COERR Aranyaprathet and the Social Commission in the Tharae-Nongsaeng Archdiocese, Diocese of Rachaburi and Nakhon Rachasima, conducted livelihood training for 40 handicapped in raising pigs, and laying hens, right of the handicapped, safety in work, basic accounting, and funding to start animal raising for those being trained during April-September this year.

   During April-June, COERR Aranyaprathet has organized capacity building training for handicapped in Sakaew to have skills in basic accounting, safety at work, right of the handicapped, including training, exposure in chicken raising farm as well as funds to start chicken farm for 5 handicapped families in Sakaew province which is financially supported by the Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

   This capacity building for the handicapped’s livelihood in Sa Kaew province has started since 2014. So far, there have been more than 50 handicapped benefitting from this program.

COERR Organized the Income Generation Activities during School break for youth in Ban Nupo Refugee Camp.

   COERR promoted youth to spend their leisure in tie-dyeing technique pattern for shirt, which are popular casualwear for all people, especially youth during the Songkran (Thai Traditional New Year Festival). COERR also taught how to make Crispy Lotus Blossom cookies and herbal drinks as choices for those who wish food and drinks that are free from artificial flavors and ingredients.

   These School Break Livelihood Activities were held during May 14-15, 2019, with 100 participants consisting of 83 female and 17 male. It is COERR’s wishes that young refugees can gain skills and make further use of their skills to generate income for their family at the moment or in the future. So we taught them to use ingredients that are locally available.

   Children and youth participants reflected their satisfaction about these activities that enable them to practice their skills and acquire capability and confidence that they are able to improve their living wherever they will stay in the future.

COERR Organized Liquid Dish Washing Making Activity for Elderly Refugees

   In Ban Mai Nai Soi, Mae Hong Son province, 104 elderly comprising 69 female and 35, were trained on May 9, 16 and 17, 2019. The events were held on the occasion that these elderly came to COERR Social Service Center for Cultural Activity gathering in which the young refugees prepared and served soy milk for the elderly to drink for health. It was also the time for youth and elderly to exchange their information and opinions about situation and life in home village where they are from and current life in the camp.

   During this occasion, the dish washing liquid making was organized by elderly. When the event was over, each elderly could bring 1 blottle of dish washing liquid produced by them, back home for use as well.
